there are way more low-information & “low-care” voters out there, but approaches that are effective with these voters are super counterproductive with high information voters (many of whom you find on the internet). and not just voters; the public in general as well.

First half of the year has been very close. I’ll need to tighten up a lot of the expenses for the second half. Food, donations… shopping should decrease as it was setting up the home office. Income is projected to increase as I work closer to full time in the Summer-Fall cycle, but that’s assuming that I can handle working full time. Still feeling pretty weak physically.

How many people with need companies like Themeforest, or custom site and plugins developed if they can largely do most of it themselves in the future? The argument already exists when trying to pitch a custom site for a few thousand bucks when the clients ask “Well I can get a really nice site set up faster for free, how are you different?”

Northgard is this cleverly executed real time strategy-management-survival computer game rolled into one. It made a splash when initially released a few years ago, and as the game wasn’t terribly deep, the playerbase rush seems to have moved on. It’s not dead, though. A new faction DLC came out as recently as this month. There’s people on the subreddit. Last I checked, you regularly get matched on multiplayer ranked battles.
I’ve been experimenting for about a year with using a tablet to read ebooks while on the elliptical at the gym. At first, I was using the 12″ Surface Pro. The Kindle Windows program didn’t make the font big enough, so instead I used the browser-based Kindle Cloud Reader because Chrome allowed for a much wider range of zooming in beyond Kindle’s built-in font zoom. The fact that the screen was so big was nice, but because it was so big, I couldn’t lug it around while doing weights. So my routine was going to the gym and throwing stuff into the keyless locker (as it’s closer to the ellipticals than the locker room padlock lockers), doing ellipticals, then weights, then pulling the tablet out and doing the final stretch of ellipticals or other cardio.
Reaching to the tablet to touch the screen to turn the page breaks the workout flow. Also, at this level of zoom, you have to turn pages a lot. So I got a bluetooth clicker. I settled for the Logitech R500, which has a much thicker body than other models and makes it easier to hold on without dropping while while also holding on to the handlebars using some of the fingers. Also, both the “Next” and “Back” buttons are very big and there is none of the useless extra stuff that other models have. Other than not allowing me to fully grab the handlebars (holding on to the handlebars comes in handy especially when I start jumping), this was a pretty good setup. It also worked well with the Aladdin Ebook Reader for Korean language books.
Neat.. the fitness center I started going in November last year has already made it to the top 13 of all places I’ve been to, since like 2010.

Seeing how my church does not make it into the rankings, and how some of the numbers are too low, I think it only counts automatic location tag as a visit when 1) there are no other competing business locations overlapping within the same GPS margin of error, or 2) I have confirmed the location manually on Google Maps. (Although I don’t think my church would be near anything else..?)
My Pixel 3 phone has this feature where it can filter through potential scam/robo/ad calls by going through an interactive script with the call using voice synthetizer, and the phone holder can monitor the conversation live (if they want) via text through voice transcription. Google calls this “AI Call Screening”
I got one such call just now and put it through the screener. They hung up, then called again, so I picked up. Turns out it was a robo call for my doctor’s appointment. So these two voice scripts were talking to each other for a bit. Nice.

The southern Indian Ocean is huge. When I learned that there was a small set of islands smack right in the middle of it called the Kerguelen Islands, with the apt alternate name of Desolation Islands, I was strangely hooked. I kept thinking of how cold and helpless the place was, and how lost it would feel to experience a shipwreck and wash ashore this island. It felt extremely scary and helpless, and for some reason I was fascinated. I combed through a bunch of Wikipedia entries and photos of the island.
